Hampshire County Fire Defense Association

Firefighters from of Pelham, Easthampton, Hatfield, Goshen and Chesterfield with assistance from Westhampton Fire, Hatfield Ambulance, Springfield Fire and , Plainfield Fire (Hampshire County Air Truck) recently attended a Structural Firefighting class held that the Springfield Fire Academy burn building. In this photo, a practice burn was lit to show students taking the course how quickly a large room can be filled with deadly hot gases which result from combustion.
Mission Statement
Through supportive community relationships, Hampshire County Fire Defense Association promotes fire service collaboration within Hampshire County, Massachusetts. This goal is accomplished by supporting the following programs:
- promoting firefighter safety by providing specialized training
- promoting regional training opportunities
- providing coordinated mutual aid response to incidents
- coordinating with external agencies
- providing resources to enhance public fire and life safety education
- delivering regional specialized operations
As a result of these efforts, our Association assists and supports the fire service community in protecting lives and property of the citizens of Hampshire County.
